Death of JP McCarthy
The town of Clogheen has once again been saddened by the loss of one of its well known citizens. JP McCarthy passed away following a battle with a recent illness.
J.P. of Poul Bui and formerly of Lios Mhuire, Clogheen passed away in the company of his family at St Teresa’s hospital last Friday morning, April 10th 2015.
J, as he was affectionately known, bore his illness with great courage. He was in his late fifties and was a very polite and pleasant person. He was a founding member and player of his beloved Vee Rovers soccer club and his favorite premier league club was Manchester United. He had great interest in all sports.
J.P.s remains were waked at his sister Cathys residence and removal took place to Clogheen church on Sunday for requiem mass followed by interment in Shanrahan Cemetery. J’s coffin was draped with the Tri-Color in recognition of his time in The Irish Army. As mourners were leaving Shanrahan J’s favorite song ‘I Am Sailing’ by Rod Stewart rang out loud at his final resting place. Deepest sympathies are extended to his sisters Ellen Ryan, Mary Sullivan and Cathy McGrath, brothers Billy and Tommy, nephews and nieces and all his extended family, May his soul rest in peace
