Sadness at Death of Joan Looby

Shock and sadness shrouded Clogheen and surrounding areas last week when the news broke that Joan Looby, Ronga, Clogheen had died. Joan a vivacious young woman, just 44 years old, was a member of the nursing profession, having worked in The Bons Secour hospital Cork for many years.

Testament to her popularity were the poignant scenes of the nursing staff from the Bons each bearing a red rose as they formed a guard of honour following Joan’s beautifully concelebrated funeral mass.

We tender our deepest sympathy to her Mother Bridie, brother Eamonn, sisters Mary Pat and Bríd, her partner Rick Prendergast and all her extended family.

Joan was laid to rest in Shanrahan cemetery.

May her kind and gentle soul rest in peace.
